Every inch the modern businesswoman, Anané has built a successful career as a record label owner, chart-topping producer, world-renowned DJ, vocalist and songwriter, model, fitness guru, modern medicine woman. Her exceptional talents are sought by all that know her and she refuses to be defined by the expectations of others.

As head of record labels Nulu Music and Nulu Electronic, the party/radio show Nulu Movement and  her latest project Lip Service with Anané, there is nothing that Anané can turn her hand to. 

Arriving from Cape Verde to the USA over two decades ago, Anané is a product of her cultural heritage and has been immersed in honoring her African and Portuguese ancestors from an early age. Authentic, organic and infused with the love of community, everything she achieves in life must be built with those fundamental beliefs at their core.

Despite the trappings of international success, she has never forgotten her roots and how she immersed herself into the spotlight on her own terms. Fleeing her birthplace at a young age due to the violence of the independence revolution, Anané and her family were determined to take advantage of the American dream and build a brighter future. Being of mixed race, and from a foreign land, meant that she struggled to find her own identity growing up, but it was music that provided her the strength to overcome those challenges.

With the blessing of her family, she relocated to New York City with only a bag of clothes, couple of hundred dollars and a pocket full of dreams. Immediately discovered on the streets of NYC by a modeling scout, she soon signed a modeling contract with a major NYC agency, having graced the New York catwalks, appearing in major commercial campaigns, the face of major international cosmetics brands (Wycon, Italy) and on the covers of various magazines such as Preferred Health Magazine. 

She immersed herself in the underground glamour of New York’s Club culture, becoming a devoted dancer at places such as the Sound Factory Bar, Twilo, the Tunnel, ‘Save the Robots’ to name a few. Little did she know that her love of dance and House Music would migrate to a stellar career behind the decks, in the studio, on the stage and in the world of business.

Fast forward to present day and Anané has gone on to perform the opening song ‘One Dream’ at Super Bowl XLI alongside EOL orchestrated by Louie Vega. She was honored to be invited to perform at President Obama’s Ambassadors Ball as well as to Nelson Mandel’s African National Congress party celebrations. Anané along with her husband Louie have also headlined their brand  ‘The Ritual with Anane & Louie Vega” at prestigious beach clubs around the world such as Blue Marlin and Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel, Skorpio’s and Santanna both in Mykonos and most recent, a three year summer residency at Heart Ibiza to expectant and devoted audiences. 

In 2009 Nulu Music and Nulu Electronic were born which now boast an impressive array of over 100 releases and artists from all parts of Africa, USA, Europe and beyond. Critically acclaimed as imprints which deliver an Afro and Electronic sound, both labels have gone on to be regarded as brilliant examples of textural diversity combined with a deep understanding of musical complexity. As time progressed Anané realized that the artists on her labels needed an environment to share their talents and express their musical freedom. Nulu Movement was the culmination of that dream, representing events where artists can showcase their skills, play music from the heart, all with the ambition to provide a very special and unique atmosphere.

In 2020, 17 years after her first studio recording sessions, Anané released her debut album Chapters of Becoming… A chart-topping collection of her hottest original tracks and featuring new remixes by Manoo, David Morales and a cameo vocal by Mike Dunn amongst others. It was a clear indication of an artist at the top of her game and speaks to the possibilities of what is to come. Anané discography is full of milestones and will remain in the heart of her fans, it includes many amazing productions with Louie Vega and The Elements of Life as well as the most recent worldwide success of "Get On the Funk Train" and "Tell Me That I'm Dreaming" produced by Louie Vega and remixed by Todd Terry, Dave Lee, Mike Dunn,  Michael Gray, Mark Knight also including the guitar of legendary Carlos Alomar. 

Anané eternally seeks out the path to spiritual fulfillment, refuses to be constrained by social judgements and is a powerful woman for today who can lead us into the new dawn of unfolding opportunities. She is an inspiration to those who struggle against adversity and a lightning rod for all that want to achieve success in their lives.
